BUT...SURELY THIS IS JUST A FAD LIKE 3D MOVIES?
Nope. People (including yourself likely) use virtual tours literally everyday on their mobile devices and desktops.
We're all way more familiar with it than you would realise - it's called Google maps/StreetView and it's been around for donkey's years. We all use this to free service regularly to help scope out a new holiday location, search a shop front, navigate city pathways and street layouts all from the safety of our computer.
The good news? Well the same benefits apply to businesses wanting to showcase the interior of their premises.
Perfect for retail, hospitality, construction, real estate and anything in between.
A "virtual tour" just refers to the image being displayed in a 360 spherical arrangement which then allows you to click and hold with your mouse in order to navigate around in a full 360 degree "virtual" environment. If you are really hard out, yes you can wear a VR headset, or the more affordable google cardboard adapter.
View the example above we produced for Wandering North Children's Boutique & Gifts which now acts as the Google Streetview for businesses or "see inside" tour that is discoverable on Google Maps. When potential customers search for shops of this variety in the nearby vicinity they can now walk through as they would a regular StreetView tour on the public road - but this time INSIDE your business. Cool right? Yes, very! Not only is this great from a customer perspective of being able to scope out the vibe of a shop/hotel/restaurant/cafe before visiting, but it is superb for business owners as it allows you to gain an edge over your competition, enhance your google listing (your google listing will now show a "see inside/outside" thumbnail) which users can view on any of the google maps products.
MY MATE HAS A 360 CAMERA, SO WHAT'S SO DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR PHOTOS?
So how do our images differ from old mates 360 GoPro camera? The crucial difference is that our 360 images are created professionally using a DSLR camera and an expensive rig that takes up to 24 single images, which are then exposure bracketed and stitched together in post to create a single ultra-high resolution 360-degree photosphere. It is the only and best way to achieve a professional, high quality result.
All-in-one 360 consumer cameras like the GoPro or Insta360 OneX are great fun, but the still imagery is incredibly poor once viewed in a virtual tour or within a maps listing. It just doesn't cut the mustard (trust us, we have these cameras as well for fun on the weekend). Ultimately they do not produce the quality of image that a business owner would be proud to display on their website or Google Maps listing.
We won't bore you with the details but it largely comes down to the tiny sensors in the consumers cameras that take a single image with 2 fish eye lenses. Where as a DSLR has a much larger sensor, with sharper lenses - you can imagine the difference when 24 images are combined to produce a stunning result.
Finally, Fuzz Digital are accredited with the "Google Trusted Pro Photographer" badge. Which means we are listed by google as trusted partners to create 360 imagery for official maps listings. Currently we are the only Google Trusted Photographer listed in the Pilbara region.
